USABC Information

The United States American Bulldog Club was formed by members of the American Bulldog community for the promotion, preservation and protection of the American Bulldog breed.  The USABC is the only American Bulldog club who is a member club of the American Working Dog Federation.

The USABC is a club of clubs and individual members.   Any member of the USABC, who is also a member of a USABC club is entitled to run for USABC office or a seat on the USABC Board of Directors as long as they are not officials of any other conflicting organization or club and subscribe to our Constitution and Bylaws.  The United States American Bulldog Club is run by a Board of Directors and Club Presidents who vote on issues pertaining to the American Bulldog.  All Board members of the USABC must be a member of a USABC club.  As a member of a USABC club, you vote for your club President who becomes your voice on behalf of the American Bulldog.

USABC Clubs consist of five or more individual or family members of the USABC.  Individual members of the USABC do not have to be club affiliated.  All members of the USABC will receive the USABC quarterly publication.

USABC Club helpers and training directors may apply for USABC certification.  USABC clubs may hold USABC trials.  USABC clubs may or may not require pre-registration for entrants and may collect entry fees.  Clubs holding a USABC trial will be required to submit a recording fee of $5.00 per entrant to the USABC.  All other fees collected are the property of the USABC hosting club.

All dog's entered in a USABC trial must have an AWDF scorebook (see scorebook page on this site).  All titles achieved by ABA registered dogs at a USABC trial will be recorded on that dog's pedigree.  All USABC clubs shall have award certificates at the trial which shall be signed by the club secretary and the presiding judge and presented to all dogs earning a title at the completion of the trial.

USABC Clubs who have USABC certified helpers need only bring in a USABC Judge if they would like to host a trial.   USABC trials do not have to be conducted in conjunctin with a conformation show and can be held at any time of the year with any number of entrants.

All USABC Judges must attend an annual Judge's college and must meet the requirements as set forth in the USABC judge's program.  All USABC Helpers must be certified through the USABC Helpers program.  USABC Helper Seminars shall be held throughout the year.

Club membership to the USABC is by calendar year and begins January 1 of each year.  Clubs wishing to joing the USABC mid-year shall have their USABC dues pro-rated.

The USABC shall have a National Championship each year to be hosted by a USABC club.  The USABC shall also field a team at the AWDF National Championship each year.

The USABC is the parent club in the United States for the American Bulldog.  Through the USABC, the American Bulldog community can work together for the best interest of our breed.  With open lines of communication and a spirit of cooperation and sportsmanship, we can work together to build a better future for the American Bulldog.

The USABC goals are as follows:

1. To promote the American Bulldog as a working breed.

2. To promote and encourage positive breeding practices within the American Bulldog community.

3. To open the lines of communication within the American Bulldog Community through USABC meetings and through the USABC publication.

4. To educate the community about the American Bulldog breed.

5. To obtain international recognition for the American Bulldog as a pure breed dog through the FCI.

6. To maintain a database for the American Bulldog breed of all titled working American Bulldogs.

7. To provide a forum for the training and certification of USABC club Training Directors and Helpers so that American Bulldogs may be trained in a safe and productive environment and so that each USABC club may have their own certified helpers.

8. To hold educational seminars for the American Bulldog Community.

9. To provide a forum for the American Bulldog Working Community to come together and compete in a spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie.

10. To work together with our fellow working breeds for the future of working dogs in the United States through our membership in the American Working Dog Federation.
